Sometimes Aunt Pit didn't tell us the exact oven temperatures. Here's a cheat sheet.
Cool oven 250°F
Slow oven 250–350°F
Moderate oven 350–375°F
Hot oven 375–450°F

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons B.P. [baking powder]
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons fat
1 egg
3/4 cup milk

mix flour, B.P. salt and sugar

cut in fat with knifes

mixing with knife add egg and milk

pour soft dough into greased baking pan

spread topping

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 tablespoon soft butter
2 teaspoon cinnoman
1/3 cup chopped dates
1/4 cup chopped nuts

mix ingredients
spread into soft dough
and bake 20 minutes in moderate oven
cut in bars and serve warm with butter

 

Quick breads are leavened without the use of yeast. In case Aunt Pit's recipe is a bit vague, here are basic directions:

Preheat oven to 350°.
Combine dry ingredients.
Combine wet ingredients.
Stir into dry ingredients.
Grease the bottom of a loaf pan and pour in the batter.
Bake about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
